{"id":347,"date":"2017-02-14T11:34:06","date_gmt":"2017-02-14T13:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/?page_id=347\/"},"modified":"2017-03-17T10:16:32","modified_gmt":"2017-03-17T13:16:32","slug":"ilha-dos-frades","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/ilha-dos-frades\/","title":{"rendered":"Frades Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is on Frades Island where it is concentrated great part of the investments in \u00a0urban-environmental re-qualification that has been held by Ba\u00eda Viva Foundation \u2013 it has been putting into practice its directives and objectives and contributing with a series of actions that are providing new urban environment and more comfort to its residents and tourists as well. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On this island. , well known places such \u00a0as Loreto, Paramana, Costa de Fora and \u00a0Ponta de Nossa Senhora, have been undergoing transformations that can stimulate other initiatives for the strengthening of the place\u2019s touristic vocation. \u00a0The total recovery of Loreto Church, from the XVII Century, for example, has huge symbolic value in the building of the so wanted bridge that links culture and tourism. \u00a0In the same way \u2013 with the re-use \u00a0and remodeling of an old house that used to be the farm\u2019s \u00a0headquarters &#8211; \u00a0it was inaugurated the Memory Center on Frades Island , that today is a mandatory route for anyone who is interested in learning more about the origin , fauna, flora , geographic features , customs and popular manifestations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because of the precarious conditions for mooring that did not encourage people to visit it <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in loco<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, there was the need for the building of a new pier for disembarkation on the island. The material that had been chosen for the construction work was carefully studied so that it could be smoothly integrated to the small square near the church. In Loreto, Ba\u00eda Viva Foundation has been growing a nursery with species of Atlantic forest that aimed for the reforesting of the island and 50 thousand seedlings of coconut trees. Replanting is continuous seedlings of \u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">jequitib\u00e1<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, redwood , cedar, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">anjico<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, pepper tree, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ip\u00ea roxo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, among other species , beyond the fruit trees that are adapted to the soil , as cashew , mango, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ing\u00e1<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Surinam cherry , <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">caj\u00e1<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, guava , among others. Now there is also a place for selection, recycling and compacting of waste.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Paramana, Costa de Fora and Ponta de Nossa Senhora, Ba\u00eda Viva Foundation has been doing a deep work of urban-environmental re-qualification, where it is highlighted the big project of sanitation, drainage and paving of many streets and squares, as well as the transforming of many grass and topsoil houses in brick houses and equipped with water, sewage and electricity lines. \u00a0In Costa de Fora, there were built a medical center, a well-equipped restaurant for residents and visitors and a recreational center. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another symbol of the historical patrimony of the island is the small church of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, that was built by Portuguese people in Ponta de Nossa Senhora, and that was abandoned and in ruins but that is being remodeled now. The church is placed on top of a hill and there it was built a gazebo where it can be seen one of the most beautiful views of All Saints Bay. \u00a0It was also built a huge staircase that leads to the church. \u00a0In the same village, where it can be found one of the most beautiful beaches in the bay, Ba\u00eda Viva Foundation is holding an action of re-qualification of beach equipment, by substituting the precarious installations of existing huts, for simpler and more harmonious ones that are linked to sustainability. \u00a0\u00a0Near these huts it is being projected the handcraft market of All Saints Bay where there will be shown the many tendencies of the popular handcraft that is produced in the bay and in the bay area. \u00a0In Ponta de Nossa Senhora it is foreseen the building of a new pier , public restrooms , police department and medical center \u00a0, as well as a system of nautical signaling to avoid the approach of vessels on the beach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Costa de Fora, because of a request of the community itself, Ba\u00eda Viva Foundation held one of the most significant works in the village: the building of a long wall (around 1 km) that has the function of water contention and a passage for pedestrians, especially for children that go to school, and it solved an old difficulty that was faced by residents in the periods of rising tide, when they used to go to Paramana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also very important and transforming was the intervention that was held in Nova Ciranda Village, in Paramana, that took out residents of the hillside \u2013 where they lived under precarious conditions \u2013 so that they could move to new houses that were totally rebuilt after services of drainage and paving.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is on Frades Island where it is concentrated great part of&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":159,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/347"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=347"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/347\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":351,"href":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/347\/revisions\/351"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/159"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/fundacaobaiaviva.org.br\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=347"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
